This weekend saw the biggest daily rise in Covid-19 cases ever.

Meanwhile, more specifically, he Covid R number in Germany has risen sharply in recent days, with the number at 2.88 for the last 4 days.

This ‘reproductive rate’ means that for every 100 people infected, it’ll be passed on to 288 people.

It’s accepted that an R rate of below 1 is the aim.

Dr Margaret Harris is spokesperson for the World Health Organisation, and she gave her response to Ivan on Monday evening's edition of the Hard Shoulder.
