Shocking news today revealed that bodies of the deceased were decomposing in the corridors of University Hospital Waterford mortuary due to inadequate body storage and refrigeration facilities, coupled with cramped conditions.  The revelation emerged after the conditions were highlighted by consultant pathologists from the hospital in a letter to Gerry O’Dwyer, chief executive of the South – South West Hospital Group in Cork last October.

One of the signatories of that letter, is Professor Rob Landers, who joined Ivan to outline his concerns and those of his colleagues.
