A petition signed by 25,000 people calls on Goverment to scrap tax breaks for Cuckoo funds, build public homes, strengthen tenant rights & put the right to a home in the constitution.

Andrea heard from Laura from Cork city, who is renting with her husband for the last 7 years with a housemate, having never lived on their own. She feels they have done everything they can and it still feels like an impossible task.

Also Caroline who separated from her then husband 8 years ago, spoke about how they still live in the same house as they cant afford to move on.

Rory Hearne, Lecturer in Social Policy at Maynooth University and Author of ‘Housing Shock’, is behind this petition and joined Andrea to shed some light on it.
