Around 16 percent of 13-year-olds in Ireland report having symptoms consistent with depression.

Girls are more likely than boys to display the symptoms, according to a new 'Growing up in Ireland' study.

The findings are based on interviews with over 7,400 children and their families, and looks at their behaviours and wellbeing at ages 9 and 13.
