The US president has made a rare Oval Office address to the nation, following a mass shooting in San Bernardino in California last week.
Barack Obama was trying to reassure the country, spooked by a new type of terror attack on the home front.
He says the threat from terrorism is real, but that the terrorists will be defeated:
"Our success won't depend on tough talk, or abandoning our values, or giving in to fear. Instead we will prevail by being strong and smart, resilient and relentless, and by drawing upon every aspect of American power."
