A prominent dissident republican, who died after he was shot in Dublin yesterday, has been named as 25-year-old Vincent Ryan.
He is the brother of Real IRA figure, Alan Ryan, who was murdered in 2012.
Vincent Ryan died at the Mater Hospital last night, after being shot a number of times on McKee Road in Finglas.
It happened after he dropped his child and partner off at a home.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
Journalist with The Herald and Independent newspapers, Conor Feehan, told Newstalk Breakfast it was not the first attempt on his life.
Superintendent John Quirke says gardaí are hopeful witnesses will come forward.
