Three men have been arrested after a number of firearms were seized in Ratoath in County Meath.
As part of an ongoing operation Gardaí stopped two vehicles in the Ratoath area yesterday evening.
Two assault rifles and several hundred rounds of ammunition were discovered.
In a follow up operation two semi automatic pistols, silencers and further quantities of ammunition were also discovered.
Three men in their 30s have been arrested under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act, and are being held at Ashbourne and Kells Garda stations.
Conor Feehan, of the Herald and Independent Group, told Newstalk Breakfast that this is a "major development in the garda fightback against the ongoing row between the Kinahan and Hutch factions".
