Sinn Féin TD Pearse Doherty has rejected criticism of his northern colleague, Francie Molloy, after he sent a controversial tweet about the British bombing of Syria.
The Mid-Ulster MP's tweet said, "Brits back to what they do best. Murder.", responding to a comment made by Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness on the airstrikes.

It prompted outrage on the social media website.
Speaking to Newstalk Breakfast, Sinn Féin's finance spokesperson Pearse Doherty played down the incident.
"One person's murder, one person's casualty of war - what it is is that war will bring the loss of life, I think that's what Francie is talking about."
