On this morning’s Breakfast Paper Review Chris and Ivan debated the merits of the Angelus, as RTE consider altering the twice daily reflective minute.

Ivan said he wants to keep it, while Chris said the tradition no longer fits with modern Ireland.

One avenue RTE are exploring is an altered, inclusive version of the Catholic prayer. The Irish Independent reports today that RTE have told Atheist Ireland they want to make the slot “"accessible to people of all faiths and none".

So we wanted to know how you feel – should the Angelus be scrapped altogether? Should an altered version take its place – one more inclusive of all faiths and citizens of Ireland? Or should it remain as it is, as a tradition worth retaining?

Here are the results:

Keep it, it's a tradition Ireland should hold on to - 30.2%

Scrap it, it doesn't fit with modern Ireland  - 52.83%

Keep the minute of reflection, but change it to something more inclusive  - 16.63%

Other View  - 0.34%
