The jury in the trial of a man accused of murdering a young mother at a hotel in Dublin has been discharged.

Eric Locke, of St John's Park East in Clondalkin, was due to go on trial today for the alleged murder of Sonia Blount at the Plaza Hotel in Tallaght.

Members of both the Locke and Blount families packed into the Central Criminal Court this morning to hear the opening day of the trial.

33-year-old Locke is accused of murdering Ms Blount at room 346 at The Plaza Hotel in Tallaght on February 16th last year.

The body of the mother of one was found by cleaning staff that afternoon.

A jury was sworn in earlier this week, but was discharged this morning following an application to adjourn the trial.

Ms Justice Isobel Kennedy did not explain why - but said she had a "number of reasons for doing so" and the case will come back before the courts on Monday.
