The Mayor of Berkeley says he believes more than one person or company will be deemed to have been at fault in the balcony collapse tragedy.

It comes a day after an interim report found that severe dry rot weakened the wooden supports of the balcony which gave way, killing six Irish students.

Meanwhile, funerals will be held in Dublin today for two more victims, Niccolai Schuster and Olivia Burke.

An interim report has found that severe dry rot weakened the wooden supports of the balcony.

The authors of the report have now called for new rules requiring inspections of existing and new buildings.

They are also calling for strict requirements on waterproofing new balconies.

Berkeley Mayor Tom Bates told Newstalk Breakfast it will take some time to find out who may have been responsible for the collapse - and speculates that there will be more than one person or entity deemed to be at fault.

Planning Director Eric Angstadt says the balcony should have been able to support the code requirements - which is two tonnes:

Meanwhile friends and family will gather for the funerals of two of the victims of the Berkeley balcony collapse later this morning.

Funeral masses for Niccolai Schuster and Olivia Burke will be held this morning in Rathgar and Foxrock respectively.

Removal for Niccolai will take place from his home to the Church of the Three Patrons, Rathgar to arrive for Funeral Mass at 11.00am.

His body will be cremated at Mount Jerome in Harold’s Cross.

Olivia's body, which arrived back to Ireland on Monday after a joint service for her and her cousin Ashley in the US over the weekend, is reposing in Fanagans Funeral Home on Aungier St.

Removal will take place this morning to the Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour in Foxrock, where Funeral Mass will be held at 11am.

Olivia will be laid to rest afterwards in Deans Grange Cemetery.

The funerals follow those of Eimear Walsh and Eoghan Culligan yesterday. The final funeral - that of Lorcán Miller - will take place tomorrow morning in Shankill.
