Gardaí want to speak to any other people who visited the Killarney, Co Kerry apartment where 11-month-old baby Karol Rozycka died last weekend.

Yesterday, the infant's father (32) died at Cork University Hospital from the critical injuries he sustained.

The baby's mother is believed to be planning to bury Karol in her home town in Poland this weekend.

So far, Gardaí have refused to release the results of the postmortem examination on baby Karol, carried out by Assistant State Pathologist Dr Margaret Bolster, for operational reasons.

However, Preliminary and unconfirmed reports emerging Sunday night and early Monday morning indicated that there were other people in the Park Place town centre apartment on the day that Karol died.

It is understood that investigators are speaking to those people to try to determine the events that led to Karol's death.

Marian O’Flaherty, journalist with Radio Kerry spoke to Newstalk Breakfast earlier:

Yesterday, mother Anna issued a statement on the local radio station - via a family friend.

Funeral arrangements

Baby Karol's remains are being flown back to Poland where his Mass of the Angels will take place on Saturday.

He will be buried in Bielsko-Biala - his mother's home town in Poland - a short distance from Krakow.

A special memorial service for Karol was staged by the Irish and Polish communities in Killarney last Tuesday.

Locals organised a collection to help Anna defray the costs of Karol’s repatriation and his funeral expenses.
