With the moratorium now in place for broadcast coverage of the same sex marriage referendum, Lunchtime conducted their last interview before voting takes place on Friday.

Tom Curran, General Secretary of Fine Gael, spoke to John Keogh along with his son Finnian about their personal experience.

Tom began by detailing his faith and where he grew up before moving on to join the priesthood. However, he met his future wife Noeleen and decided to leave the church.

He described himself as a committed Catholic but declared that we are now in a post-Catholic Ireland stating: "I'm more bound by the love of God than the doctrine of the Church."

In 2011, Tom said that his faith was shaken to the core when his son, Finnian, came out.

Finnian told John Keogh that he had a "fear of rejection.

"When I first told them, my mother thought that I had got a girl pregnant because it was that serious of a situation.

"I sat them down and said, look I've something to tell you... I'm gay."

Tom said that the quote that was going through his head was a quote from the bible: "You're carved in the palm of my hand".

"I believe as a parent that each of my children are specially chosen by God and I believe Finnian is the same as the others and he's not equal.

"I have a difficulty about the church teaching which says, and I quote, that gay people have a intrinsically disordered inclination. I don't accept that."

The pair finished by calling for a Yes vote. Finnian said it would mean "everything".
