The youth organisation Foróige is holding an event this weekend, to highlight the importance of volunteering.

The former Governor of Mountjoy Prison, John Lonergan is speaking at the event in Cork today.

Mr Lonergan is stressing the importance of male volunteers who can act as positive role models to boys in particular.

Foróige are active in every county and have over 600 volunteer-led youth groups.
