If you're one of the few people who hasn't even started watching Game of Thrones, then fear not, as you can get a complete course in all you need to know about the show at UC Berkeley. 

The show has been a huge hit across the world and is nothing short of a phenomenon, so it should come as little surprise that it is now the subject of some serious academic study. 

A summer class in the Film Studies program at the university offers students the chance to look at the themes, theories and controversial aspects of the show, including the way it portrays women, which has been a major talking point surrounding it. 

They are not the first to offer college students the chance to study the topic however, as Northern Illinois University launched a similar program earlier this year as an honours course. 

It could be a good way to catch up on the show if you're yet to watch it, but it might be cheaper to just buy the box set...
