It is reported that prosecutors in Germany have charged a doctor with negligent bodily harm for declaring a woman dead when she was very much alive.

The New York Post reports that the woman (92) woke up in a refrigerated room at a funeral home.

It is believed the doctor in question, whose name was not released, could face jail time if convicted.

The doctor (53) is alleged to have pronounced the woman dead in March after she was found without a pulse at a retirement home.

Later, a worker at the funeral home heard a scream from the refrigeration room and discovered the woman alive.

A local prosecutor says she died two days later in hospital from heart disease unrelated to the incident.
