It has 'rom-com' written all over it but it's not a work of fiction. This is apparently a totally genuine story.
Australian backpacker and Reddit user Silvanic booked round-the-world plane tickets with her then-boyfriend before they split up.
She has since discovered that they are non-refundable and non-changeable – so rather than let them go to waste and go travelling alone, she began the search for her ex-boyfriend's exact namesake – allowing them to fork out the $6,000 paid for the tickets and go on a world-wide trip with someone they never met before.
Silvanic has written that she is "actually fine travelling by myself - I just don't want to pay for the empty seat on the plane."
Her new travelling companion must be called Andrew Grant and be available to travel on the 26th November, which is when the extended trip begins.
Silvanic has received a huge response on Reddit about her dilemma but mostly only to give advice on getting a possible refund.
It doesn't look like she has found her Andrew Grant just yet, but she is still searching. Could it be you?
