A woman has died after she was hit by a car in County Donegal.

Gardaí said the 69-year-old was hit at Tinnycahill in Clar at around 8pm last night.

She was pronounced dead at the scene and her body was removed to Letterkenny University Hospital where a post mortem will to take place.

The road remains closed while Gardaí carry out a forensic examination of the scene.

Investigators are calling for witnesses to contact them.
