Any lovers heading to Paris this weekend heading up the Eiffel Tower this Valentine’s weekend will have to up the ante if they want their photos to gain any notice on Instagram – the Parisian landmark is the most popular place in the world to take a selfie.

The iron tower has been revealed as the social network’s favourite setting for snapping a selfie, based on research carried out by the ticket-booking website Attraction Tix. After counting up the numbers of duck-faced pictures, more than 10,700 selfies were taken in front of the Eiffel Tower in 2014.

Only one Irish landmark made the top 40 list, with the Guinness Storehouse the 35^th most popular place in the world to pose for a selfie – perhaps something to pass the time while waiting for a pint of the black stuff to settle.
