Following his recent fitness test, Newstalk's Henry McKean is now going back to basics in order to get fit.
First up is the plank and Kieran Keenan, personal trainer and owner of Fitsquad.ie showed Henry exactly how it's done.

Technique:
- Starting on all fours, drop down onto your elbows.
- Walk your knees back, tuck your toes under and create a straight line from your head, neck and back.
- Tighten tummy, feet hip distance apart, hands hip distance apart, breathe in and out normally.
- This is a core strengthening exercise but also works shoulders, lower back, quadriceps, gluteals, rectus abdominis (abs) and transverse abdominis.
- Beginners start by holding this position for 30 seconds, intermediate 40 seconds and advanced 60 seconds plus.
