A bombshell dropped this week when Paul McGuinness announced that he stepping down from his duties as manager of U2.

The music industry is interesting as, like in sport, sometimes the managers can be as well-known as the teams they run.

People like Brian Epstein, Malcolm McLaren and Colonel Tom Parker are well known figures and arguably part of the reason for the success of their charges.

So on the Sunday show this week we thought we would shine a light onto the people behind the music and ask whether a manager really can make or break an act.

Manager of numerous music acts, including Thin Lizzy, Frank Murray and John Meagher, music critic with the Irish Independent, spoke to Shane Coleman.

The panel looked at what the role of a manager can be in the day to day running and high-stakes business dealings of the music industry. They also looked at some famous examples of those that looked out for some legends of the music industry.
