Very windy today and cloudy with scattered outbreaks of rain. The rain will be heavy in most areas for a time.

Temperatures of 10 to 12 degrees in strong to gale force southwesterly winds.

The rain will clear eastwards this evening to colder weather with clear spells and scattered showers, wintry in the north. With the clearance the winds will veer westerly and ease somewhat.

There is a Status Yellow wind warning in place for Ireland.

South to southwest winds will reach mean speeds greater than 45 km/h and up to 65 km/h, with gusts up to 100 km/h possible during Wednesday.
