President Barack Obama has spoken out about the beheading of an American journalist by Isis. The Islamic State yesterday released a video apparently showing a masked attacker decapitating Steven Sotloff who worked for Time Magazine.
Mr Obama called the killing of the journalist a "horrific act of violence" and vowed that "justice will be served".
The US says the video showing the beheading of journalist Steven Sotloff is authentic.
The IS has said the killings are in retaliation for US airstrikes and the "arrogant foreign policy" toward the militant group.
Meanwhile "every possible option" to protect a British hostage threatened with death by extremists is being examined by the British government, according to the foreign secretary.
