The organisers of the weekend demonstration against water charges says it has rattled the government.

It is estimated that up around 50,000 people took part in the march through Dublin city centre on Saturday.

There was a large security presence on the streets, and a garda helicopter in the sky, as crowds made their way between the GPO and the Dáil.

More protests are planned to take place around the country on November 1st as part of the campaign of opposition.

People Before Profit TD Richard Boyd-Barrett says the reports that exemptions and reliefs will be announced in the budget tomorrow show the government is backpedaling.

While the Transport Minister Paschal Donohoe says the water charges packet in the budget will ensure the future of safe and secure water.
