YouTube, the biggest video-sharing platform on the internet, is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. In May 2005, the site first opened to uploads from members of the public, and in the decade since, it has given launch to countless viral moments and lifestyle channels earning more money than seems fair.
In honour of the occasion, YouTube’s spotlight channel has created a montage of some the most memorable moments from the last ten years, creating an A-to-Z guide to the first decade of YouTube mixed to the Blackalicious single Alphabet Aerobics. As well as viral videos you’ve forgotten the three-minute short also takes in some of the subjects that have come to dominate the YouTube community’s content, such as beauty, gaming, and dance.
