A new video has emerged showing Mexico’s most wanted druglord Joaquin ‘El Chapo’ Guzman escaping from a Mexican prison through a secret tunnel in his cell wall.

The footage shows Guzman in his cell moments before his escape, then sneaking out of the cell through a small hole in the wall. He was being held in Mexico's highest security facility and had been arrested following "the biggest manhunt in history" according to the US.

The video also shows the tunnel – with lighting, ventilation ad a motorbike – that Guzman used to escape. The motorbike was modified and used to transport materials.

Guzman is the leader of the Sinaloa cartel, the world's largest criminal syndicate. Guzman was recently ranked as the world's 14th richest man.

Mexican authorities are currently offering a $3.8m reward for details leading to his capture.

It’s not Guzman’s first prison escape. In 2001 he escaped while reportedly hiding in a laundry cart. It was 13 years before authorities had captured him again.
