The ending of season five of game of thrones was incredibly controversial, as fans [spoiler alert] were left wondering whether or not one of their favourite characters to date had been killed off. 

It would hardly be a surprise, given the track record of the show, and that's something that's touched on in the new teaser trailer for season six. 

While the posters and publicity materials to date have dropped a few hints about the fate of Jon Snow, this trailer more overtly shows the character, while the voice-over hints that "the past is already written, the ink is dry", before Bran Stark states "they have no idea what's going to happen". 

The show returns to HBO in the US on April 6th, 2016.
