Twelve years after last scribbling notes in her diary as the lovelorn Londoner, the first trailer featuring Renée Zellweger in Bridget Jones’s Baby has finally been released, showing the trials and tribulations facing Bridget now that she’s in her 40s.
After bagging an Oscar nomination for first playing the role in 2001, Zellweger much-hyped return to the franchise comes after a dip in her career. The film reunites her with British actor Colin Firth, while Grey’s Anatomy alumnus Patrick Dempsey takes over the third point in the love triangle left vacant by Hugh Grant’s departure from the series.
Other returning cast members include Jim Broadbent and Gemma Jones as Bridget’s parents, and Emma Thompson – who co-wrote the script with novelists Helen Fielding and David Nicholls – will also feature.
