Just weeks after the release of Bridge Of Spies, and Spielberg is already gearing up for his next movie.

Based on the classic Roald Dahl children's book original published in 1982, which subsequently got an animated movie adaptation in 1989, this time Spielberg looks to be returning to the world of family friendly movies for the first time since Hook.

Mark Rylance - who was recently nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his turn in Bridge Of Spies - will be playing the Big Friendly Giant, with newbie Ruby Barnhill playing Sophie, the young girl who discovers him.

The supporting cast includes Rebecca Hall, Bill Hader and Jermaine Clement, and the screenplay was written by E.T. scripter Melissa Mathison, who unfortunately passed away in November this year.

The BFG stomps into Irish cinemas on July 22nd 2016.
