A silent vigil in the French city of Lille to remember those who lost their lives in the attacks in Paris was interrupted by a group of far-right protesters, leading to a confrontation between the two groups.
According to The Independent, the vigil organisers stated that the group of protesters were members of the National Front, and showed up about 15 minutes after the silent march began at 3pm on Saturday.
Those in the vigil broke their silence and began chanting "go away fascists" as they marched towards the small group of protesters, who had brought a banner and flares.
Police eventually stepped in to separate the two groups, with the protesters retreating to a smaller side street. The crowd broke their silence again afterwards as they began to sing a rendition of the French national anthem 'La Marseillaise'.
