It's not what you expect to see when you go to a car boot sale, so residents of Noordwijkerhout were justifiably quite surprised when an elephant wandered in to get a look at the bargains. 

Yesterday afternoon, Buba the main attraction of Freiwald Menagrier Circus, managed to get loose and go exploring in the area, wandering into a car boot sale. 

According to one witness, Alice de Groot said that the animal seemed very happy among the crowds: "She seemed quite at ease. She was investigating the trinkets with her trunk when her caregiver came running up, somewhat stressed". 

He called the animal and the two went back to the circus without any further fuss. Gerard Guiking of Freiwald Circus said that the 40-year-old elephant has always been very friendly and has never been aggressive.
