The Communications Minister Alex White is welcoming yesterday's high voter turnout.

But Mr White, who is also the Labour Party Director of Elections, says he will not be speculating about what the on the age profile of voter turnout could mean for the result of the marriage referendum.

The leader of the Catholic Church in Ireland, Archbishop Eamon Martin, thinks some will find it hard to accept if the Yes vote wins in the marriage referendum.

Meath man Joey Kavangh is one of many who travelled home to vote in favour of the same-sex marriage referendum.

He was part of the get the boat to vote campaign.

Seamus Clancy and his partner Lee are already engaged and hope to get married if the country votes Yes.

He explains why it means so much to him.
