Fans of Volkswagen have been glued to events in Geneva as their latest concept vehicle; the Sport Coupé Concept GTE was unveiled. This is a four-door, four-seat vehicle that’s jam-packed with sports design and innovative technologies.

The plug-in hybrid is powered by a V6 TSI engine and two electric motors. The combined fuel economy figures we have been given by the manufacturer indicate that the car can achieve a combined consumption of 2.0 litres per 100km. In terms of power Volkswagen quotes us 380hp and a top speed of 250 km/h.

The front of the vehicle is what stands out most in terms of style. The grille, headlights and VW badge merge into one unit. The roof line takes the shape of a flattened curve which extends from the A-pillar, which makes the bonnet look very long. To the rear is a low-set C-pillar. Air exhaust openings can be seen in the bonnet, front wings and doors and the concept vehicle wears 21-inch five-spoke wheels. We’re told that the boot of the Sport Coupé Concept GTE can hold 480 litres.

Dr Heinz-Jakob Neußer, Member of the Board of Management for Development at Volkswagen, said, "This concept is a breathtakingly dynamic coupé, which will set standards in this class and offer a persuasive alternative to the classic saloons of the B and C segments."
