Months after serving in Afghanistan, Joey Johnson was tragically injured in a motorcycle accident, leaving him paralysed from the waist down.
But for his big day, he was determined to stand for the first dance with his wife Michelle.
With the aid of his friends, Joey created a harness that allowed him to stand freely. Michelle's mother convinced her to go briefly to the bridal suite after the cake cutting, so she could return to find her husband waiting to dance.
The wedding photographer Rachel Linnea spoke to CNN about the scene:
"She saw Joey standing and she had a giant smile on her face which quickly turned to tears. Everyone was in tears. The dance was a beautiful moment to not only capture, but to experience."
Though the wedding was on June 28, it has recently been gaining traction online due to America's Veterans Day on Tuesday.
