It is believed that the prospect of replacing John Tierney, or some directors at Irish Water, was discussed at cabinet today.
Fianna Fail's calling a vote in the Dail tomorrow night, looking for water charges to be suspended until a major review is carried out.
However, TD Barry Cowen says the government can't use John Tierney as a scapegoat for Irish Water's problems:
Meanwhile, the Government has ordered a review of procedures and communications at Irish Water.
Cabinet decided a review was needed after a litany of controversies concerning the new utility and how its communicating with the public.
Ministers hope the review will be seen as a statement of the need to maximise public trust in Irish Water.
