Gary Turk's 'spoken word film' Look Up was uploaded on April 25th. In the five-minute-long clip, Turk urges the viewer to look up from their smartphones, computers and tablets in order to truly appreciate their 'offline' friends and 'real' life. At the end, he even advises viewers to "stop watching this video, and live life the real way".

In a development that could be seen as both proof of Turk's observations or an ironic distortion of the video's message, Look Up has become a major viral hit. At the time of writing, it sits just shy of 20 million views on YouTube.

While the film has seemingly encouraged a lot of people to look at a screen rather than away from it - at least for five minutes - the short does seem to be resonating with many viewers. As well as kicking off lively discussions on social media, message boards and YouTube itself, an overwhelming majority of viewers have given the video the 'thumbs up'.
