A conference takes place in Co Donegal today with a major investment opportunity.

The Disrupt by the Sea 2023 Shark Tank event will see six founders pitch to a panel of US investors for a share of a US$100,000 cash investment.

Firms will present a six-month roadmap and receive feedback, while getting introductions to key contacts in the US.

Disrupt by the Sea is being hosted by Kevin Sexton of Alpha Innovation.

He will be joined by John Fries of Germantown Ventures, Mark Baiada from Bayada Home Health Care and Mike Finucane of Bayada Ireland.

Mr Sexton has said the event will assist the winning entry gain access to global markets.

"We have six of the best scale-up businesses in the country, pitching to a number of US investors who have flown over for the event," he said.

"They'll have six minutes to pitch; those businesses will get great perspective on the US market from these sharks, who've grown global businesses themselves - multi-billion dollar businesses.

"The US can be a challenge, the US is a very expensive place for a start-up to enter the market.

"What we're doing here is basically introducing them to their distributions partner, channel partners so they can go straight into pilots.

"So, rather than trying to figure out who their partners are over in the US, we're basically bridging that gap," he added.
