Two teenagers have been arrested after Gardaí seized three firearms and a large quantity of ammunition. 

The pair were stopped at a routine checkpoint in Tralee, County Kerry at around 10.30pm last night.

After the driver failed a roadside drug test, Gardaí searched the vehicle and discovered the firearms and ammunition.

These were seized and will be subject to full ballistic examination.

The vehicle was taken to Castleisland Garda Station for forensic examination.

Investigation into the incident is ongoing.
