Two women are appealing against their sentences for killing new age traveller Gary Bull in Cork, nearly 6 years ago.

Una Geaney and Amanda McNab with an address at Mullinagleamig, Dingle, Co Kerry, were jailed along with Jason Thomas of Mount Pleasant Road in Exeter, England for the manslaughter at Dunmanway in September 2007.

The body of 37 year old Gary Bull was found dumped in a slurry pit in Dunmanway weeks after his death.

He was stabbed and struck by a mallet after a fight broke out at a party.

Amanda McNabb and Jason Thomas pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

Una Geaney was tried for murder in 2011 but was convicted by a jury of manslaughter and was sentenced to ten years.

Her co-accused Amanda McNabb, who is originally from Scotland recieved 9 years as did Jason Thomas.

Both women are now challenging the severity of the sentences in appeals due to be heard today.

Una Geaney will first try to overturn her conviction.
