Hundreds of thousands of pilgrims are at the Vatican for a ceremony where two former Popes will be made saints later.

The road leading to Saint Peter's Square is strewn with sleeping bags, backpacks and folding chairs as many spent the night to try to get in early this morning.

During a special mass in St Peter's Square in Rome, former pontiffs John XXIII and John Paul II will be canonised by Pope Francis.

It's rare for any Pope to become a saint - unprecented for two at the same time.
