Thousands of cigarettes, packets of tobacco pouches and cannabis have all been seized by Dublin's North Central Drug Unit.

The seizure was made on Friday when a car was stopped on Western Way, two men were searched during the operation and €500 worth of cannabis herb was discovered.

During a follow up search of two properties in the Dublin area Gardai seized 60,000 cigarettes and 800 packets of tobacco pouches worth €38,000.

Two men, a 37 and 28-year-old, were arrested and taken to Store St Garda station.

They were later released and a file is being prepared for the DPP.
