The day will be cold and bright with good sunshine and scattered heavy rain or hail showers this morning, prolonged at first in parts of Ulster.
Dry in many places this afternoon as showers become well scattered in temperatures of 5C to 8C.
Fresh and gusty northwesterly winds in parts of the north and east at first but winds decreasing moderate during the day.
TONIGHT
Cold dry and clear early tonight with frost and icy patches developing as temperatures fall to between 2C and -2C, coldest in the north.
Thickening cloud will bring rain across Munster, south Leinster and parts of Connacht before morning.
