Tributes have been paid to an Irish musician who died after being knocked down in Florida at the weekend.

41-year-old Martin O'Connor, who was from Roscommon, was involved in an alleged hit-and-run while crossing the road in North Lauderdale in the early hours of yesterday morning.

He was taken to the local Broward Health Medical Centre where he was pronounced dead.

The father of two was well known in country music circles in this country.

A 35-year-old man has been arrested over the incident.
