A jury has heard a homeless man who was found dead and severely burnt from head to toe in the Phoenix Park had an EBS account with €140,000 in it, and €8500 in cash.

Dr Haroon Khan told the jury there was no sign of life from Gerard Donnelly when he arrived at the Phoenix Park in the early hours of November 29th 2013.

Gardai found the body on fire having been alerted to a blaze in a wooded area of the park near the Wellington monument.

Dr Khan pronounced the 36 year old dead. He said the face was unrecognisable and while the body was intact it was severely burned from head to toe.

The prosecution allege Mr Moran, another homeless man, knew the deceased had money and beat him to death.

The prosecution claims the accused man Ciaran Moran who was also homeless, knew Gerard Donnelly was 'an individual of quite considerable means' and that CCTV places him near the scene.

The jury has heard a lump hammer and blow torch were found near the body.
