World reacts to latest Islamic State video

A video has been released claiming to show 21 Egyptian Coptic Christians being beheaded in Libya.

Egypt's president Abdel Fattah Saeed Hussein Khalil el-Sisi has called for urgent security talks following the emergence of the video. Egypt has declared seven days of national mourning.

The beheadings come just days after IS released a video showing the gruesome burning alive of a Jordanian pilot it captured after his F-16 came down in Syria in December.

European response to shootings and terror attack plot

A 22-year-old with a history of violence and criminal gang involvement has been identified by police as the suspect behind two deadly shootings in Denmark.

More information about the suspect and his motivations is likely to emerge over the coming days as investigations continue.

Separately, one of Germany's biggest carnivals was cancelled at the 11th hour following a "specific threat" of an attack.

Migrant rescue operation

A major rescue operation is underway between Europe and North Africa - after more than 1,000 migrants got into difficulty in the Mediterranean.

The Italian coastguard says around 150 people on board two boats from Libya have been helped to safety.

It is thought they were trying to make their way to the Italian island of Lampedusa - with 300 people killed last week attempting the same crossing.
