Mary Lou McDonald and Sinn Féin

Today’s scenes in the Dáil, which saw Mary Lou McDonald and Sinn Féin refuse to leave the chamber despite the Ceann Comhairle’s request, have once again thrust Sinn Féin to the centre of the debate.

The reaction tomorrow, including to the statement of no confidence in Sean Barrett by Sinn Féin – is sure to see a number of sharp exchanges in the press between opposing TDs tomorrow.

The Weather

Today saw torrential rain and flooding across the country. Tomorrow sees that downpour continue early on with hopes of a break later i the day.

Met Eireann forecast: Heavy rain continuing in many areas tomorrow morning. It will gradually clear northwards with winds easing and showers following, some of them heavy. Highest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees.

INTO annual conference

Members of the Irish National Teachers Organisation will gather in Armagh later for the groups annual conference.

The theme of this years event is 'Quality in Education' and delegates will discuss the changing role of accountability and teacher responsibility in education.

Members are also calling on the government to lift the moratorium on posts of responsibility.
