A civilian woman and a soldier have died following two knife attacks in the West Bank.
The woman, in her mid-twenties, was stabbed along with two men who survived with wounds.
The Palestinian suspect was eventually shot by a security guard and is in a serious condition.
It is thought he drove from Hebron and attempted to run over several people before leaving his vehicle with a knife.
A police spokesman said: "A car stopped at the hitchhiking stop at the entrance to Alon Shvut, the driver got out of the car and stabbed three civilians who were standing there.
"The guard at the entrance shot the suspect."
All the victims were described as Jewish settlers.
Earlier today, a 20-year-old Israeli soldier was stabbed to death by a Palestinian teenager at a rail station in Tel Aviv - the latest casualty of rising tensions in Israel and the Palestinian territories.
Police said the soldier's alleged attacker was "staying illegally in Israel, from the area around Nablus" in the West Bank.
He was arrested immediately after the attack in the country's business capital.
Police said the soldier had been stabbed several times, adding that the assault was likely to have been politically motivated.
A witness heard on public radio said: "I got to HaHagana bridge with a friend and we saw a big man in a red sweatshirt stabbing a soldier twice, apparently someone from the air force.
"I stopped the car and we started to run after him, shouting 'terrorist, terrorist'."
He then returned to help the soldier, but added: "He was conscious but his situation deteriorated very quickly."
Sky's Middle East Reporter Tom Rayner said: "It follows weeks of growing tensions in Israel and Jerusalem and in the Palestinian territories.
"Over this weekend there were big riots in some Arab areas of Israel where after the shooting dead of a 22-year-old Israeli-Arab by police.
"This is all part of these growing tensions and there will be fears that what we have seen today in Tel Aviv represents a spreading out of the unrest."
Last week a Palestinian man turned himself in to police after running over three Israeli soldiers - critically injuring one of them.
Meanwhile, one person was killed and at least a dozen others were injured when a Palestinian man rammed his vehicle into pedestrians at a light-rail stop.
According to witnesses, the driver of a van then got out and began attacking passers-by with a crowbar.
The latest violence comes as United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon announced the establishment of a board of inquiry to investigate deaths, injuries and damage to UN premises during this summer's Gaza war - as well as the discovery of weapons in vacant UN schools.
