Three men have been arrested in connection with the armed robbery of a post office in Co Louth this morning.
At around 11.45am three men entered the post office in Clogherhead - one of them was armed with a sawn-off shotgun.
They threatened staff and demanded money. As they left, they were confronted by gardaí and a struggle ensued.
A 25-year-old man was arrested, and the stolen money was recovered along with a sawn-off shotgun.
Two other men - aged 24 and 36 - were also arrested, with the assistance of the Regional Support Unit.
The three men are being held at Dundalk and Drogheda Garda stations.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to the incident - particularly anyone who was in the supermarket / post office between 11am and 12 midday - to contact them at Drogheda Garda station on 041-987-4200.
