Three people have been arrested as part of an investigation into illegal money lending in Co Sligo.

They were arrested on suspicion of extortion.

A 46-year-old man is being held at Ballymote Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

Meanwhile, a 42-year-old woman is being detained at Carrick on Shannon Garda Station.

The third person arrested - a 17-year-old girl - has been released from custody, and a file will be prepared for the DPP.
