Thousands of Irish women have been encouraged to join a French lawsuit over faulty PIP breast implants.
Legal experts say up to 10,00 Irish women may be eligible to claim compensation in the French courts.
It's thought that around 3,000 women had the faulty P-I-P implants fitted in Ireland - but that another 7,000 Irish women had the implants fitted abroad.
The implants were signed off as being safe by a German company, but were later found to have contained industrial gel instead of medical-grade products.
Although PIP is now out of business, women who had the implants fitted are still eligible to sue a German company who signed off on their safety.
At the end of last year, a French court has jailed the founder of a company that made substandard breast implants for four years.
Jean-Claude Mas of Poly Implant Prothese (PIP) was found guilty of fraud after using industrial-grade silicone in thousands of breast implants sold worldwide.
A global health scare erupted in 2011 with some 300,000 women in 65 countries believed to have received the faulty implants.
French lawyer Olivier Aumaitre says anyone who had the faulty implants could receive a large cash payout.
